SUMMARY: The Medical Staff Coordinator, working with the Chief Medical Officer, ensures a safe and highly competent medical staff “To Care for the People of Our Communities”. This role collaborates with other members of the leadership team to create effective processes for improving patient care. This includes changes in clinical guidelines as well as changes in quality measures or health plan assigned initiatives. This coordinator aids TBCHS in ensuring that new clinical requirements are rolled out to staff in a proactive and formal manner. The monitoring of employee illness as well as necessary employee health related documentation for medical files.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, with other duties assigned as appropriate.
Employee Health
- Acts as Employee Health Nurse; by triaging illness, ensuring compliance with vaccination requirements per policy.
- Maintains CPR and BLS certification records for all employees and required contracts.
- Completes new hire TB/PPD testing and reading for all employees.
- Remains current with new evidenced based guidelines and recommendations from health plans and provides education to health center teams
- In conjunction with Nurse Manager is responsible for assessing and ensuring appropriate organization infection control practices are implemented/oversees Infection Control Plan/Policy
Credentialing/Privileging
- Ensures all medical providers have submitted all information and supporting documentation for review. Oversees the approval process for initial appointments and reappointments.
- Documents and facilitates the completion of quarterly provider assessments
FPPE/OPPE
Monitors focused provider practice evaluations as well as ongoing provider practice evaluations. Assists in coordination and disbursement of provider data metrics (quality, patient experience, insurance audits). Collaborates with quality staff on reports, follow ups on medical provider improvement efforts. Facilitates quarterly Q1 quality assessments.
Recruitment
Assists HR staff with provider recruitment and scheduling of orientation/onboarding.
Medical Staff Policies
Is responsible for polices and procedures related to the medical staff in conjunction with the Chief Medical Officer. Assures that approvals and processes are completed.
Peer Reviews
Participates with Risk Director, as needed, in the peer review process. Assists Chief Medical Officer in peer reviews and evaluations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 4 years of positions with increasing responsibilities of management/leadership in healthcare preferred, preferably in the Federally Qualified Health Center environment. Experience with community engagement and public relations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This position requires certification or licensure in the following categories:
