School-Based Services

TBCHS partners with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Service’s Child and Adolescent Health Center Program, Health Resources and Services Administration, and local area schools to bring healthcare services to the children in our community. This partnership allows Thunder Bay to provide students with access to medical care including immunizations, health education, preventive health and behavioral health services in the school setting.

SBHC’s provide a full array of services including but not limited to: comprehensive primary care, acute care, immunizations, health education, behavioral health counseling, and substance abuse prevention, assessment, and referral.

SWC’s provide a wide range of services to adolescents, including but not limited to: acute care, first aid, immunizations, health education, behavioral health counseling, and referral to primary care or specialty services.

In addition to our School-Based Health Centers and School Wellness Center, TBCHS also provides behavioral health counseling, portable dental, and school nurse services in several local area schools.
